We had an awesome Field Trip to Sanderling Nature Center and Bookworm Gardens. We were able to explore a lot of cool animals and wildlife that we have in Wisconsin at the Nature Center. We also went on a short hike and found a HUGE tree!!!! It made us all look tiny. We found everything on our scavenger hunt! Then we ate lunch and went to Bookworm Gardens where books come alive! We got to dig for dinosaur bones, visit the houses of the 3 little pigs! If you have never been to Bookworm Gardens in Sheboygan I recommend checking it out with your child. There are many, many books that are represented at the park as well as copies of those books to read with your child!
Wow! We are almost half way through October already! Don't forget October is Fire Safety Month! We have been talking about fire safety in our classroom this past week. On Monday we got to meet a Plymouth Firefighter! He talked to us about the gear he had to wear to stay safe in a fire and that if we were ever in a fire we shouldn't hide we should get out and yell for help. We also talked about how important it is to have a plan in case of a fire. How do I get out of the house? Where should I go when I get outside? Please, Please, Please have a talk with child about an emergency plan. And just like we do at school, have a fire drill and practice those plans! Last week we learned about apples! We had apple math activities, an apple taste test, and even made applesauce! It was YUMMY! We have been extremely busy working and learning so far this year. We have learned how to read to self, match upper and lowercase letters, add details to our writing, make leaf rubbings, use charts/graphs, use a magnifying glass, count to 10, fill up a ten frame, work together, and much much more. Here is a slideshow of what we've been working on! We have been busy getting to know our classmates and our classroom! We've practiced playing cooperatively with each other as we explore the block, science, math, house, art, and writing areas. We are working on taking turns and putting our tools/toys back where they belong. We read the book "The Kissing Hand" and even read our first emergent reader book as a class! Mr. O'Malley our principal came to read us a story! We are super excited to continue learning in kindergarten. Fridays in our classroom we have Fun Friday! This includes a yummy treat that we get to create. In honor of back to school week we made editable pencils! We are having so much fun! Check out these pictures!
It was great to meet most of you at Sneak Peek last week! I am excited to start our school year on Tuesday. Please make sure your child has his/her gym shoes and a towel for rest time on the first day of school.
We are getting ready for back to school! The classroom is all set up and ready for students. I can't wait to meet each of my future students. Get ready--We have a lot to learn and of course, a lot of fun to have! Hope to see you all at Sneak Peak on August 30. Stop by between 3:30-5:30.
